SRINAGAR: A 37-year-old man has passed away, while another has been hospitalised after becoming trapped under a sand mound in Shanoo village, Langate Handwara, officials said.
They said that Abdul Hamid Sheikh, son of Khazir Mohammad, was with Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Nabi Dar when a sand mound collapsed, trapping them at Watnar Shanoo. “Onlookers made strenuous efforts to rescue them and transported the duo to District Hospital Handwara, where Abdul Hamid Sheikh was declared dead on arrival,” they stated.
The other individual, Shabir Ahmad Dar, is currently receiving treatment, officials added.
A police official, confirming the incident, stated that they have taken cognizance of the matter. (GNS)
