Four Drug Peddlers Arrested Across Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested four alleged drug peddlers in separate operations in Shopian and Handwara on Friday, recovering substantial quantities of contraband substances from their possession.

In Shopian, a police team from Police Station Shopian established a checkpoint at Aglar near the Fruit Mandi, where they intercepted an Alto K10 vehicle (registration number JK02BM-7222) carrying three individuals. The accused were identified as Suhail Ahmad Rather, son of Tariq Ahmad Rather of Tak Mohalla; Maroof Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Nabi Wani of Kiloora Malikgund; and Firdous Ahmad Alaie, son of Abdul Gani Alaie of Melhura. Upon searching the vehicle, approximately 1.5 kilograms of charas-like substance was recovered.

In a separate incident in north Kashmir’s Handwara, a police team from Police Station Handwara intercepted an Eco vehicle (registration number JK09-8927) near the Bypass Road at Bus Stand Crossing. The driver, identified as Feroz Ahmad War, son of Abdul Majeed War of Kultoora, Langate, was found in possession of 9.64 grams of a brown sugar-like substance.

Police have registered cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the respective police stations, and investigations have been initiated.
