SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested four suspected drug peddlers in Srinagar, Baramulla, and Budgam, recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substances.
In Srinagar, a police patrol intercepted a vehicle moving suspiciously between Bemina Chowk and Boatman Colony. Upon stopping the car, the driver fled the scene, while the co-passenger, identified as Sameer Ahmad Bhat of Woyan Pampore, was apprehended. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a brown sugar-like substance concealed in the dashboard, along with a weighing machine and a mobile phone. The absconding driver, identified as Mudasir Ahmad Pir of Firdous Colony Bemina, remains at large. A case has been registered at Bemina Police Station, and efforts are underway to locate him.
In a separate operation in Baramulla, police at a checkpoint in Kanthbagh intercepted two individuals attempting to evade arrest. Identified as Javid Ahmed Sheikh and Sameer Ahmed Sheikh of Khawajabagh Baramulla, the duo was found in possession of approximately 100 grams of charas. Both were taken into custody, and a case has been registered against them.
Meanwhile, in Budgam, police at a checkpoint in Bugroo crossing stopped a Scooty (JK04-5815) and recovered a heroin-like substance from the rider, Adil Showkat Khan of Wavoora Baramulla, currently residing in Ompora Budgam. The suspect was arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used in the crime was seized.
All cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law, and investigations are ongoing.
