Four Drug Peddlers Arrested in North Kashmir, Contraband Recovered

   

SRINAGAR: Police in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district arrested four alleged drug peddlers in separate incidents on Wednesday, recovering a significant quantity of contraband substances including heroin and charas.

In the first incident, police personnel at a checkpoint on Halpal road near Masjid Murshideen intercepted two individuals who attempted to flee the scene but were apprehended. Upon search, a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. The suspects were identified as Umair Ibn Fayaz, son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir of Regipora, and Kashif Ul Islam, son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat of Batergam.

In a separate operation, police from Lalpora station set up a checkpoint at Rangward where they intercepted two more individuals found in possession of a considerable quantity of charas-like substance. The accused were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Rehman Bhat of Krusan, and Aabid Shafi Mir, son of Mohammad Shafi of Dharamwari.

All four individuals have been arrested and remain in police custody. Authorities have registered cases under relevant provisions of law at their respective police stations, and further investigation is underway.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and appealed to the public to support efforts aimed at eradicating the drug menace from society.
