SRINAGAR: The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has said it has retrieved around 110 kanals of land during a large-scale anti-encroachment drive in Jammu district. The operation, carried out under the supervision of Vice Chairman Rupesh Kumar with support from the District Administration, targeted encroachments in Sidhra, Majeen and Rangoora areas of Tehsil Jammu Khas.

According to officials, more than 20 illegal permanent and semi-permanent structures, including newly built houses and boundary walls, were demolished for being raised without authorisation on JDA land. The reclaimed land, the authority said, is now being secured with fencing and warning signboards to prevent further encroachments.

The JDA reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards land encroachment and warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators. It also urged citizens to verify ownership and obtain mandatory approvals before starting construction. The authority said the coordinated action demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding public land from illegal occupation.
