Four Held in Separate Anti-Drug Operations Across Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Police in South Kashmir’s Awantipora booked a drug peddler under the PIT NDPS Act in Sub Division Pampore, while three others were arrested with contraband substances in separate operations in Sopore and Kupwara.

“In Awantipora, Javid Ahmad Dar alias Brichi, son of Mohd Akram Dar, a resident of Lalpora Chatlum Pampore, has been detained under the PIT NDPS Act following formal detention orders from the competent authority. He has been lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu. Several cases are registered against Dar for supplying drugs to youth in Pampore and surrounding areas,” a police spokesperson in a statement said.

In Sopore, a police party at a checkpoint in Neharpora intercepted an Ecco vehicle, driven by Jahangir Ahmad Shah of Neharpora. “During the search, 300 tablets of Alpradex 0.5 and cash amounting to Rs 22,550 were recovered. The vehicle was seized, and the driver was taken into custody.”

At a separate checkpoint near Batpora Crossing, police apprehended Asif Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Shahabad. Two sticks of charas-like substance were recovered from his possession during the search.

“In Kupwara, police patrolling Bunpora intercepted Fayaz Ahmad Wani of Lolab. Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot,” the statement reads.

All accused have been booked under relevant sections of law. Investigations are ongoing.
