SRINAGAR: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has dismissed two government employees—one from the Police Department and another from the Public Works (R&B) Department—under Article 311 of the Constitution of India, citing their involvement in anti-national and terror-related activities.
The dismissed officials are Basharat Ahmad Mir, Assistant Wireless Operator in the JK Police, and Ishtiyak Ahmad Malik, Senior Assistant in the Public Works Department. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies had flagged both individuals for their alleged roles in activities prejudicial to state interests.
According to reports, Bashrat Ahmad Mir was appointed as a wireless operator in 2010 and served in various units of the J&\K Police until 2017. The decision to terminate their services was taken following allegations of links to anti-national and terrorist activities.
“Basharat Ahmad Mir, a resident of Upper Brein, District Srinagar, was reportedly in continuous contact with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives. Intelligence inputs suggest he shared sensitive information regarding security deployments and infrastructure, posing a threat to national security,” reads a DIPR statement.
“Ishtiyak Ahmad Malik, from Shitroo Larnoo, District Anantnag, has been identified as an active member of the proscribed organisation Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir and as a terror associate of Hizbul Mujahideen. Authorities allege he helped build a network of sympathisers and facilitated logistics and intelligence to militants, especially in South Kashmir,” it adds.
