Four militants were killed and three army men and a policeman wounded in a gunfight that started on Monday early morning between government forces and militants in Lassipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An official confirmed the killing of four militants and also said that arms and ammunition have been recovered from them.
The identities of the slain militants are yet to be ascertained, an official said.
The gunfight began after a joint team of army and police launched cordon and search operation in the area after having specific input about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter brief exchange of firing. However, the encounter ended with the killing of four militants.
