While succumbing to the latest fatal attack on two panchayat members I North Kashmir Sopore, four visibly shaken panchs from Duroo area Sopore announced their resignation on Tuesday by displaying their identity cards before media in Srinagar.

The move came after militants killed one Sarpanchs and injured other female Panch in recent attacks in Sopore town. Some 54 Sarpanchs and Panchs resigned in four- days in North Kashmir.

Already 20 odd panchs have claimed they resigned after insurgents killed a panch and critically injured a lady poanch in two separate incidents.
