Minutes ahead of his third cabinet reshuffle today, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is also National Conference’s working president has sent his two close friends D S Rana and Nasir Aslam Wani to head two provinces of the party. Rana was his political adviser and Wani an MoS with a lot of portfolios.
Now former Industries Minster S S Slathia is senior Vice President with former ministers Qamar Ali Akhoon, Aga Rahulla Mehdi, Rattan Lal Gupta and Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari as vice presidents.
Another former Abdul Gani Malik is in-charge Parliamentary constituency Kathua-Udhampur-Doda, and Rashpal Singh In-charge Parliamentary constituency Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri. In Kashmir, Dr Mehboob Beig and Javed Dar will be the respective districts presidents.
The efforts are aimed at rejuvenating the party. Omar dropped Surjit Singh Slathia, Agha Ruhullah, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Abdul Gani Malik, and Nasir Aslam Wani from his council of ministers and took new faces in the council.
