Four of a Family Killed After a House Caught Fire in Doda

Four members of a family were killed when a fire broke out in the house of Abdul Rasheed Bhat of Gadaan, Doda, in the intervening night of 29th February and 1st March.

All the four members including Abdul Rasheed, 55, Fatima Begum W/O Abdul Rasheed, 55, their daughter-in-Law Mubeena Begum, 22, wife of Nasir Ahmed and their infant granddaughter who was 7 months old were also killed in the incident.

The Fire also engulfed the Cow-shed adjacent to the house killing 3 dozen animals including Cows, Bulls, Sheep and Goats.

People of the adjacent villages rushed to the spot and tried to control the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated. The incident has sent the whole area in a state of shock and grief.

Meanwhile, many political, religious and social organizations have expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
