Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) strongly criticized the state administration over the ‘harassment’ of youth, arrests and nocturnal raids by police in Islamabad and said the people are being targeted for “harboring pro-freedom sentiments and showing regard for freedom movement.”

“This is obviously the result of frustration of authorities. The anti-people activities of police are extremely condemnable which should stop at earliest lest the administration faces massive public outcry,” a DFP spokesperson said in a statement to KNS.

“Thousands of people participated in a peaceful rally organized by Democratic Freedom Party on Friday in Islamabad wherein they (people) exhibited their love and regard for the freedom movement but “authorities couldn’t digest such emotional panorama of people and resorted to routine arrest spree of youth in order to quell their pro-freedom sentiments,” he said

“They (police) forcefully barged into the houses of Freedom Party activists and, according to reports, harassed even their family members. At many places, brothers were arrested in place of brothers, which is totally unacceptable,” he alleged, adding that DFP Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah led a peaceful rally and received huge public response “which authorities couldn’t tolerate.”

The spokesperson expressed wonder over the government’s “battle of ideas” and said “the arrest spree of youth and preventing people to meet the political leaders are continuing even though the puppet government is making huge claims of fighting ideological war. These frustrated state rulers should confess of their failure.”

The DFP spokesperson sought immediate release of all the arrested youth.
