In order to ensure safety and security of the passenger / drivers and to avoid accidents, fresh schedule regarding movement of traffic (Up and Down) on NHW-1A has been issued w.e.f. 13.01.2015, according to an official statement.

The statement said that Up traffic viz Jammu to Srinagar, the movement of all types of LMVs/PSVs shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) strictly between 0600 hours and 1300 hours only, on daily basis and all vehicles must cross Udhampur by 1500 hours positively.

No LMV/PSV shall be allowed to move (towards Srinagar) after 1300 hours from Nagrota and 1500 hours from Udhampur, under any circumstances, the statement said.

The movement of load carriers/trucks from Nagrota (Jammu) shall be allowed strictly between 0700 hours and 1100 hours only on daily basis and all these vehicles must cross Udhampur by 1300 positively.

Similarly, the movement of such type of vehicles from Battal shall be allowed strictly after 0700 hours only and all these vehicles shall cross TCP Udhampur by 1300 hours. However, no movement of trailers/multi-axle vehicles (beyond 14 Chakha but not more than14 feet in length and carrying more than 25 tonnes of load) shall be allowed on NHW-1A till further orders.

Down traffic viz Srinagar to Jammu, the movement of all types of LMVs/PSVs shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) strictly between 0600 hours to 1300 hours only, on daily basis and all these vehicles must cross Jawahar Tunnel by 1500 hours positively. No Jammu bound LMV/PSV (from Levdora) shall be allowed to proceed towards Jammu after 1300 hours, under any circumstances, the statement added.

The movement of load carriers /trucks shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) strictly between 0800 hours and 1200 hours only, on daily basis and all these vehicles must cross Jawahar Tunnel by 1400 hours. However, the movement of HMVs stopped overnight at Pantha Chowk (Srinagar) shall be allowed from 0600 hours up to 1000 hours only. Moreover, no movement of trailers /multi-axle vehicle (beyond 14 Chakha but not more than 14 feet in length and carrying more than 25 tonnes of load) shall be allowed on NHW-1A till further orders.

However, in case of heavy snowfall, a separate schedule shall be issued for regulating the traffic on one way basis on NHW-IA, the statement concluded.
