The fresh spell of snowfall has thrown life out of gear in Kashmir, reports said on Wednesday.

The residents are facing acute shortage of essentials including drinking water and electricity in most of the areas in the Valley.

Although, the state administration has pressed men and machinery into service round the clock to ensure inter district road connectivity, supply of essentials and electricity in many areas remains affected.

The Meteorological Department has forecast light rain and snowfall at most places in Kashmir Valley and several other areas across the state till today evening.

The people, particularly those residing in avalanche prone areas have been advised to take precautionary measures and contact control rooms established at all district headquarters for any kind of help.
