Authorities on Friday did not allow mandatory Friday prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid, Srinagar and locked its doors, reports said.
Heavy deployment was made since morning in the Nowhatta area to ensure strict restrictions.
Police sources said that deployment was made to “maintain law and order”.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (m) spokesperson said that its two office bearers were arrested by police outside the Rajbagh office of the amalgam with banners and placards.
Pertinently, joint resistance leadership had called for UN march after Friday prayers.
