SRINAGAR: In the wake of the Forest Survey of India’s (FSI) warning predicting forest fires across Jammu and Kashmir, the region has witnessed a surge in fire incidents, with at least three reported in the past 24 hours. The affected areas include the Doda-Kuntwara Range, higher reaches of the Karnah area of Kupwara, and the Devpora in the Shopian Forest Area.
The Forest Survey of India plays a crucial role in monitoring and assessing the country’s forest resources. Utilising advanced satellite technology and ground-level observations, the FSI provides valuable insights into potential environmental threats, including the prediction of forest fires.
