Hundreds of people early Monday held the funeral prayers of slain Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) militant in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A militant was killed on Sunday in Lelhaar area of Pulwama in a gunfight with forces. While encounter was on, locals erupted in protests against the killing of the militant.
Two civilians were killed when forces opened fire on protestors in the area. Identified as Shaista Hamid and Danish Rashid, the duo was students studying Urdu and Master’s level and engineering at Bachelor’s level, respectively.
The police said that the militant belonged to LeT and was identified as Adil Ahmad Shergojri @ Abu Bakar s/o Mohammad Ashraf Shergojri R/o Banderpora affiliated with LeT Tanzeem (A category).
