Five persons were injured on Saturday in two separate road accidents in Kangan and Sonamarg area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

In the incident, five persons including two non-local labourers from Bihar also received injuries. The injured persons were later evacuated to nearby hospitals for the treatment.

In Cherwan village of Kangan, a private vehicle Wolkswegon under registration number HR26BL/8883 collided with a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01AH/2193 and another vehicle (I20) bearing register number  JK01AJ 6365. The collision resulted in injuries to the biker and his pillion rider.

The injured duo has been identified as Adil Ahmad Malik, son of Manzoor Ahmad Malik, and Suhail Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammed Sarwar Lone, both resident of Haripora Kangan. Reports also suggest that the four-wheeler driver identified as Ajaz Ahmad, son of Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Hawal Srinagar also received minor injuries.

Following the accident, the trio was shifted to nearby sub-district hospital Kangan for medical assistance.

In Sonamarg, a Tata Mobile Vehicle bearing registration No: JK07-0719 skidded off the road at Village Sonamarg resulting injuries to two non-local labourers’ namely Iqbal Sageer, so of Mohd Sageer and Mohd Khursheed, son of Mohammad Salam, a resident of Basmatiya, district Araria, Bihar.

Both the injured were taken to PHC Sonamarg for treatment where from they were referred to B&J Hospital and Dental College Srinagar, respectively, for the advanced treatment.

In this regard, a case has been registered and further investigation has been taken up.
