Police on Thursday issued the following statement about the Ganderbal murder saying that on September 18, 2018, Police Post Nagbal received information about the murder of a teenager Faisal Hussain Misger son of Mohammad Hussain Misger resident of Busserbugh Alastang Ganderbal.

Accordingly, a case FIR number 168/2018 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation was started, the spokesman said.

A spokesman said that during the course of investigation, a special investigating team was constituted by SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS headed by ASP Ganderbal.

“The team rushed to the spot and the body was taken into possession for carrying out post mortem and other legal formalities,” he said.

“During course of investigation, one suspect namely Abrar Majeed Reshu son of Abdul Majeed Reshu resident of Busserbugh Alastang Ganderbal was questioned about the incident. During sustained questioning, the suspect confessed that he has committed the crime which got corroborated with the circumstantial evidences brought on record,” he added.

The spokesman said that the accused has been arrested in this case.

“Investigation further revealed that afore mentioned accused was stalking the elder sister of the deceased boy who was recently married off after the marriage proposal of accused was spurned by the father of deceased. This had infuriated him who in order to avenge, targeted the teenager and committed a murder,” the spokesman said.

Further investigation in the instant matter is in progress.
