Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said it busted a gang of cattle thieves in Pinjoora area of south Kashmir’s  Shopian district.

A police spokesman in a statement said on May 3, 2020, P/S Shopian received a complaint from a native of village Pinjora that, some unknown gang of thieves have stolen cow and other animals from their cowshed.

Accordingly, an FIR No. 91/2020 u/s 379,457 IPC was registered and the investigation was taken up by SHO Shopian Inspector Javaid Ahmad, said the spokesman.

“Under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Shopian Wajahat Hussain KPS, the police party with strenuous efforts and help of general people of Pinjora, successfully identified the gang of thieves and arrested them,” he said.

“The stolen cows and other animals were recovered from their possession. Arrested accused were put to sustained interrogation for involvement in other similar nature of cases happened in district Shopian,” police said.
