Gauge Reading at 2 pm, Sangam crosses 19 ft

The water level in Jhelum has crossed the flood alert mark of 16ft at Ram Munshibagh in Srinagar, officials said today.

The water level on 9 am at Sangam was marked as 16.50 feet.

In the last five hours, the water level has increased more than two feet.

Meanwhile MeT department has predicted that that weather is likely to improve from Friday.

Due to incessant rains flood like situations were triggered in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir.

The Gauge Reading at 2 pm (1400 hrs)

A – RIVER JHELUM

Sangam = 19.05 ft

Ram Munshibagh = 16.50 ft

Asham = 9.33 ft

B – TRIBUTARIES

Vishow Nallah at Khudwani = 7.26 m

Rambiyara Nallah at Vachi = 1.89 m

iii. Lidder Nallah at Batkoot = 1.03 m

Pertinently, the flood alarm is declared when the water level reaches 18 ft in Sangam, 16 ft in Ram Munshi Bagh and 13 ft in Achan.

The flood is actually declared when the water levels reach 21 ft in Sangam, 18 in Ram Munshi Bagh and 14 in Achan.

The flood is declared at danger level when the water level reaches 23 ft in Sangam, 19 ft in Ram Munshi Bagh and 15 ft at Asham.
