Reiterating his appeal for impartial investigation into all the massacres of Kashmir including the Gawkadal massacre, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Syed Ali Geelani said that an FIR should immediately be registered against the CRPF officers and its personals and the then governor Jagmohan who were involved in the bloodshed of innocent people of Gawkadal and the culprits should be given stern punishment.

In a press statement, Hurriyat (G) said, “on the completion of 25 years of the Gawkadal massacre, activists and workers of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat led by Bashir Ahmad Qurashi and Mehraj-Ud-din Rabani today assembled at the place of Massacre and raised pro-freedom slogans and demanded death penalty for the accused personals. A special prayer meeting was held in Srinagar in this regard in which the participants prayed for the peace to the departed souls and it was said that the sacrifices given by the martyrs will never be neglected and their mission will be taken to the logical end.”

Meanwhile, terming the slapping of fresh PSAs on the two students of Baramullah Sameer Ahmad Gojri and Asif Ahmad Halwai as “worst kind of state terrorism”, Hurriyat (G) condemned it in strong words.

“The PSA has although been termed as ‘lawlessness law’ by the Amnesty International but it is readily applied over common people particularly the students of the Jammu & Kashmir and the people of this region are detained for years together in the name of preventive custody,” Hurriyat (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar said.

“Both the youth of Baramullah were arrested some 4 months back and till date they are being moved from one police station to other but on the recommendation of SP police, the district administration today slapped PSA on them and they were shifted to Kupwara District Jail,” he informed adding that both parents of the duo work hard to earn the livelihood for their children.

“Besides studying, Sameer Ahmad Gojri and Asif Ahamd used to help their parents in their work but the police showed absolute cruelty in detaining them. Although there is no civil government present in the state but the state of Jammu & Kashmir is always ruled by the police and army.”

The statement also said that under its public awareness campaign, the amalgam is organizing a one day seminar with regarding to the Indian parliamentary committee recommendations about the West Pakistan refugees, “its ill-effects and repercussion” on 29 January 2015 Thursday at Hurriyat head office Hyderpora Srinagar.
