“Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani, who continues to be under house arrest, was again not allowed to offer Friday prayers,” said a spokesman of the Hurriyat (G).
According to a statement issued to KNS, the Hurriyat (G) spokesman said that it was 43rd Friday today in a row when Geelani was not allowed to offer Friday prayers.
While flaying the administration, spokesman said it is a brazen interference in religious affairs and his continued detention has badly affected his heath.
The Hurriyat (G) spokesman expressed surprise over the functioning of the organizations for Human Rights and said that they failed to deliver their responsibilities and even judiciary too is delaying the justice.
He said that though an election drama is being staged this year, however the continued detention of Geelani has proved that these elections are one-sided game manipulated by forces and in no terms can be called a democratic process.
“Even today in the month of Rabi ul Awwal, Syed Ali Geelani was barred from offering Friday prayers. Since 2010, Syed Ali Geelani continues to be virtually in jail. He was released for a brief period but rearrested without any justification.”
He said: “Hurriyat challenged the illegal house detention of Syed Ali Geelani in the court of law and court reserved its verdict in June 2013.” Hurriyat (G) has questioned the role of the judiciary and said though court has reserved its verdict on June last year; however it is not being disclosed or made public.
“It is a serious issue and violation of basic rights while referring to detention of Syed Ali Geelani said spokesman and added that silence maintained by Human rights organizations is unjustified.”
While flaying the arrests of Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Ayoob Lone, Tanveer Ahmad Sofi, Nisar Ahmad and Javed Ahmad (Lelhar Kakpora) by Task Force, night raids at the residence of Parvaiz Ahmad Dar (Tarzoo Sopore) and expressed his concern about Roman Amin, whose whereabouts are not known since last 50 days.
Geelani said that on January 8,forces personell from 52 RR raided residence of Parvaiz Ahmad(Tarzoo Sopore) an office bearer of Tehreek e Hurriyat and ransacked the belongingness and his family was harassed .It is uncalled said, Syed Ali Geelani and added that Parvaiz Ahmad is an office bearer of Tehreek e Hurriyat and forces on the dictates of locals panch and Sarpanch is trying to implicate him in fabricated cases. Geelani said that Tehreek e Hurriyat is a political organization and those who differ with our policy, should face us on political turf. Geelani has also criticized police for its inaction in Roman Amen’s case and said that they are not taking any serious step to trace missing boy, and neither the authorities do understand their responsibilities in this regard.
