Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Thursday appealed the youth of Sopore not to beat people who voted in the recently held Lok Sabha elections.

“I have information that angry youth are thrashing and beating the people who voted in the recent elections,” Geelani said. He added, “My humble appeal to the youth is not to beat anyone on this issue.”

Geelani released a video message which was circulated to media organisations.

“We all are like brothers of a family so nobody should beat any of his brothers,” Geelani appealed and said, “The election phase is over and we should get united against the military rule of India, so no beating in the name of elections.”

Pertinently, several people who had cast their vote, were thrashed and stripped by youth in Sopore and Baramulla  day before.

The beating and thrashing of the people of Kupwara area has created fear among the people living there and smelling reaction, Geelani made an appeal to youth saying that nobody should be beaten in the name of elections as the “election phase is over.”
