Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Monday decided to hold a condolence meeting in the memory of slain Gowhar Nazir Dar at Zainakote HMT on 11 November Wednesday and appealed people to participate in the event to pay tributes to the youth of Zainakote.

Strongly condemning the “use of excessive and brutal force by the police and CRPF against the people at Nowhatta and Zainakote HMT who were peacefully protesting against the cold-blooded murder of innocent Zainakote youth and vandalizing of dozens of residential houses”, Geelani said, “the forces in Jammu & Kashmir only knows the language of force, atrocity and cruelty and they want to solve every issue through the military power.”

In a press statement, Geelani said, “according to the locals the CRPF and police used excessive force and fired hundreds of tear smoke shell on the mourners in the Zainakote HMT with the result the maternal grandmother of Shaheed Gowhar Nazir who was already in a state of shock died due to the suffocation. The people in the area are protesting against the killing of the innocent student and they are demanding the removal of the CRPF and RR camps present in the locality.”

“The forces also went wild in the downtown area of the Nowhatta and broke windows of dozens of residential houses and the Masjids. The police and the CRPF personnel damaged dozens of vehicles parked on the roads in the downtown area of the Srinagar which is sheer hooliganism on the part of the government forces. While lashing out at the RSS backed state government,” he said.

He alleged, “the PDP led RSS government in Jammu & Kashmir is on the killing spree in the Kashmir valley and they are doing all this to appease their masters in New Delhi so that they can prove their loyalty. The state of Jammu & Kashmir has turned into a battle ground where government forces are using excessive and brutal forces against the common public who are peacefully protesting for their just demands.”

“On the one hand the occupational forces of India are killing our innocent children and on the other hand we are not being allowed to mourn the killings of our loved ones. It is the worst kind of state terrorism which the people of Jammu & Kashmir are facing from last 68 years,” he said.

Appealing people to participate in the scheduled condolence meeting of slain Gowhar Nazir Dar at HMT Zainakote on 11 November Wednesday, the octogenarian leader of Kashmir said, “this condolence meeting will be a tribute to the young martyr of our nation and there we will reaffirm our resolve that we will continue our freedom struggle against the forced occupation of India and we will in no way forget the huge sacrifices of our martyrs.”
