Photo Workshop

The five-day advanced photography workshop, organized by the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir (CUK), concluded on Monday.

As part of the workshop, a field trip was organized to the brick kilns of Budgam district. The collage of selected pictures captured by students was exhibited at the valediction function, a varsity statement said this evening.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mir appreciated the initiative of the department to conduct the workshop and provide hands-on training to the students.

Referring to the feedback of the students, the Vice-Chancellor said the workshop has helped participants in discovering storytellers and photographers in themselves.

He said the photographs captured by the students speak volumes about their potential.

Prof Mir expressed hope that the department will conduct more such practical-oriented exercises in future.

Dean, School of Media Studies, Prof Syed Fayyaz Ahmad expressed gratitude to the award-winning resource persons- Showkat Nanda and Tabeenah Anjum.

Prof Fayyaz lauded the journalism department for conducting such workshops. He also acknowledged the efforts of students in coming up with impressive photographs.

He appreciated the initiative of the department to conduct the workshop.

Resource persons also spoke on the occasion and thanked the university for organizing the workshop.

“They praised the inquisitiveness and talent of the students,” the statement said.

A book ‘Media and Human Rights’ edited by Assistant Professor, Department of Convergent Journalism, Dr K John Babu was also released on the occasion.
