Chairperson Hurriyat (g), Syed Ali Geelani was Thursday morning detained when he tried to step out of his home.
Geelani was scheduled to visit Zahid Rasool Bhat’ home in South Kashmir. Zahid died on last Sunday after battling for life over a week in New Delhi. He was attacked by a communal mob in Udhampur on way home from New Delhi in the intervening night of 09/10 October along with two others.
According to Hurriyat (g) activists, Geelani was detained by police outside his residence. “Geelani was scheduled to visit Shaheed Zahid’s home but he was disallowed and whisked away by police to Humhama police station,” one of the Hurriyat activists told Kashmir Life.
Geelani is undergoing house arrest since he returned from New Delhi last Spring. However, he flew to Delhi since then as well.
He alleged that police even didn’t allow media to reach Geelani’s residence.
