Continuous protests and clashes in South Kashmir have forced authorities in central Kashmir to suspend rail services across Kashmir valley.

Following the death of Zahid Rasool Bhat of the situation in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district has been on boil. Zahid was attacked by a communal Hindu mob in Udhampur early this month along with two others. He died battling for his life in New Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital for over a week.

A top Northern Railways official told Kashmir Life, “top police officials recommended us late Wednesday evening that the railway services must be snapped today.” The official asserted to remain anonymous sighting media gag.

Following the direction, the official said, “rail services across Kashmir were snapped on Thursday.”
