Implementing restrictions on Muharram processions in City, police detained dozens of mourners at Batamaloo.

Witnesses said that the mourners were trying to break the restriction put in place by authorities when they were stopped and bundled in police vans to Batamaloo police station.

The mourners led by Tehreek-i-Mazhamat head, Nissar Hussain Rather (Hurriyat-g constituent), tried to march towards city centre.

Police Wednesday evening said that it will not allow any Muharram procession in city. All roads leading to city centre have been barricaded and police are not allowing any suspicious person to cross over to Lal Chowk.

Uptown Srinagar witnessed heavy traffic jam on Bye pass as road from Parimpora to Qamarwari, Bemina to Batamaloo and Tengpora to Batamaloo have been closed with heavy police deployment.
