All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Chairperson Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain under the house imprisonment.

Once again, he was barred by police from participating in the Friday congregational prayers on the first Friday of this holy month of Ramzan.

“It is the tenth consecutive Friday in 2016 when the 86 years old pro-freedom leader was stopped from his important religious obligation,” Hurriyat Conference (g) statement said this evening.

Strongly condemning government actions, Hurriyat Conference (g) said, “Ms Mehbooba Mufti has adopted same policies against the Syed Ali Geelani which her late father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Omar Abdullah had followed. He continues to serve the illegal detention without any legal or constitutional justifications. This process was started in 2010 and it continues from the last 6 years.”

Hurriyat Conference (g) also criticized the government for the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat Secretary General Shabir Ahmad Shah and said, “he is being subjected to the political vengeance ever since he had joined the Hurriyat conference and his activities have been completely banned.”

Hurriyat Conference appealed human rights organizations to take serious notice of the illegal detention of Syed Ali Geelani, Shabir Ahmad Shah and the other political detainees of Kashmir and use their influence for their release.
