Hurriyat (G) spokesperson on Friday said that the residence of Geelani has been declared an unannounced sub-jail and he is not only stopped to venture out of his house but the people related to press are completely banned to meet him and whenever any journalist come to meet him and give his introduction at the main gate, he is forced to return.

“Many journalists use their own influence and call the higher police officials for the permission but each officer refuse them with the same answer that ‘it is not in my hands’,” spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson few days back a press reporter of prominent English daily of New Delhi, The Hindu, came to conduct an interview with Geelani, “she was as usual stopped outside and denied to enter”. “The said reporter contacted Jammu & Kashmir police chief on phone and asked for the permission but she also got the same answer and was forced to return after waiting for half an hour,” the statement said.

“Before this another female correspondent of Washington Post was also denied to interview Geelani despite having the proper appointment.” Spokesperson added, “yesterday a cameraman of Press TV was also denied to meet Geelani and whenever the police deployed outside the residence of the pro-freedom leader, see anybody carrying any camera, they get alert and stop them to enter.”
