Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani has called for a complete shutdown on January 25 and 27 in the towns of Handwara, and Kupwara, against massacres and valley wide strike on Jan 26 against republican day of India.

According to a statement Geelani said that those who laid their precious lives during ongoing freedom movement are valiant sons and they are our national heroes. “We celebrate their memories and it strengthens our commitment   and we reaffirm our faith with the freedom struggle,” said Geelani.

He reiterated his demand for impartial investigation into these killings by international agencies and said special prayers will be organized and strike will be observed on respective dates in Kupwara and Handwara town. Geelani said that people in Kupwara district are worst sufferers and faced immense miseries during ongoing freedom movement.

“Pro-Indian politicians were trying to create a lot of misconceptions about the people living in Kupwara and floated the notion that they are tired and no longer show their concern with freedom movement.”

 However, previous, year on November, 8 and during my visit to Kupwara, the people were enthusiastic, said Geelani and misgivings created by these elements proved to be hoax? Reiterating his appeal for statewide shutdown on January 26, Geelani said that we don’t nourish  animosity and hostility against India or  its people ,however India is  denying the right to self determination for the people of Kashmir and hence  they have  is no justification to celebrate their republication day, said Geelani .

Meanwhile, Geelani in his formal decision announced the formation of its women’s wing for Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and said that the organization being a statewide and it was decided to organize and utilize the services of women with in their specified field for Islam, unification and freedom movement.
