Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani has expressed his anguish and serious concern over the arrest of a 22 year old girl by police on the charges of alleged stone pelting case registered in 2010.

“The police and CRPF personals involved in target killing of 125 innocents youth in the year 2010 were not charged for their heinous crime, while as on the other hand innocents and even minors are being arrested on the mere pretext of stone pelting and now after lapse of two years an innocent girl was arrested and allegedly involving her for stone pelting” said Geelani in a statement issued on Saturday. He warned the police of dire consequences and asked the authorities to let her free.

“Stone pelting is a symbol of resistance and is acknowledged all over the word and it is not termed as an act to be punished but in Kashmir it exceptionally is,” Geelani added.

Expressing his deep concern over the deteriorating health status of detained Masarat Alam, Geelani appealed the Amnesty International and world Red Cross to take cognizance of ailing Muslim League leader and use their influence for his immediate release from illegal detention.
