While welcoming the statement of Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif with regarding to the Kashmir dispute at UN general assembly session, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that Nawaz Sharif not only repeated the traditional and historic stand of Pakistan with regarding to the Kashmir issue on the floor of UN general assembly but, he also appealed all the world community to play their role in resolving the 67 years old pending issue.

Geelani according to the statement issued to KNS said,” the Indian occupied Kashmir is sole been left on the mercy of cruel Indian army where not only men but women are also forced to live a miserable life.”

He said that UNO have passed many resolutions with regarding to the Kashmir solutions, so it is their responsibility to work for the right to self determination for its people for which they are waiting from a long time now. The prime minister of Pakistan said in the UN general assembly that ‘we want to solve the Kashmir issue through dialogues and for this we had fixed dates for the foreign secretary level talks, but India adopted the rigid stand and cancelled the said talks which were a blow to the dialogue process’. He also said that ‘we provided an excellent opportunity of dialogues to India but alas they rejected it. While giving realization to the UN towards the Kashmir issue,  Nawaz Sharif said that the 67 years old Kashmir issue is present in the UN charter in the shape of the Passed resolutions but it is still lingering. Geelani said that Pakistan should highlight the Kashmir issue at every level because the world is unaware about the difficulties and hardships of Kashmiries.
