Paying rich tributes to Tufail Matto and “martyrs” of 2010, Hurriyat (G) Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Monday reiterated the pledge to take the mission of “martyrs” to its logical end. Geelani said, “the sacrifices of Kashmiris will not be allowed to go waste and their mission will be accomplished at all costs.”

“We will not forget the warm blood of our young ones and we will strive hard to achieve the goal for which they have sacrificed their lives,” said Geelani and added that armed forces killed 125 innocents like Zahid Farooq, Wamiq Farooq and Tufail Matto.  While expressing displeasure over the state authority’s failure in bringing culprits to book, Geelani added that “the cops involved in the killing of Tufail Matto in downtown Srinagar during 2010 peaceful agitation are still roaming scot-free.” It was a “cold-blooded murder” and those culprits who killed innocent Tufail Matto must be punished, Geelani added.

There is no check nor those involved in innocent killings are tried for their heinous crimes, instead are awarded and rewarded said Geelani, saying as such they feel free to kill whosoever comes in their way, he added.

Geelani said that as there is no system to curtain the inhuman and heartless activities of forces and these killers enjoy impunity under the garb of draconian laws, thus there seems no letup in prevailing bloodshed in the state.

Meanwhile, on the directions of Syed Ali Geelani a high-level delegation comprising of Syed Mohammad Shafi, Mohd Shafi lone and Imtiaz Ahmad Shah visited Tufail Mato’s family and paid tributes and expressed sympathy with the grieved family.
