Strongly condemning the continuous detention of separatist leaders, activists and students and “fresh arrests of youth” by the police, Chairperson of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g), Syed Ali Geelani, Thursday appealed Amnesty International, Asia Watch, International Red Cross and other human rights organization to take “serious notice of the state terrorism of India in Jammu & Kashmir”.

He said, “the state of Jammu & Kashmir is a long pending disputed territory and a highest militarized region in the world. About 7.5 lakh foreign forces in Kashmir have made the lives of its people a hell.”

In a Thursday’s press release, Geelani said, “India with the help of its military might want to maintain a graveyard silence in Jammu & Kashmir which helps them to mislead the international community with regarding to the Kashmir issue.”

“India has used every method of oppression to suppress the voices of the Kashmiri people since 1947 but they have not only failed in doing so but their autocratic behaviour has further strengthened the resolve of the people,” he said.

While reiterating his appeal for holding of peaceful protest demonstration after the Friday prayers against the barbaric killing of innocent engineering student, Gowhar Nazir Dar, of Zainakote HMT, Geelani demanded immediate release of detained youth, separatist leaders and activists.
