Rejecting shortcut solutions for Kashmir problem, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani said, “Unless the Kashmir problem is solved with sincere intentions we cannot expect, peace, political stability and prosperity in the region”. He added that cosmetic or patch work won’t deliver good for the Kashmir dispute.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Syed Ali Geelani made it clear that ignoring the genuine aspirations, sacrifices and the historical perspectives of the issue, the outcome of any such agreement will be no different as that of Shimla and Tashqand agreements.

“The agreements between these two countries never lasted and have not changed the reality at all. We have not pledged to oppose or differ each dialogue process but Indian stand on Kashmir has not changed and until they admit it as a core issue”, he said.

He demanded India should admit that for lasting and acceptable solution the Kashmiris have to play a major and key role.

Syed Ali Geelani said the dialogue process is not-serious and hence the results are not expected to be fruitful.

The statement further reads, Geelani said some quarters admonish and take our clear stand as obstinate and term it a hardliner approach. “It is nothing but a counterfeiting and their cunning and a blame game to malign the just and right voice”.

Syed Ali Geelani said, “Hurriyat Conference is right and real representative forum for those who have laid enormous sacrifices for the just cause, and it is improper to move after the political mirage or are do only the legation acts, in order to be called as so called moderates.”

Geelani said that acting as stooges for political changes in a country is contrary to  do something good for freedom movement and added that in first case one can understand the compulsions but for the freedom movement it is quite different and  detrimental.

Syed Ali Geelani reiterated that there is only one roads map for the just and acceptable solution of Kashmir problem and he made it clear that India should allow the right to freedom and allow Kashmiri to live a life with dignity and honor. “All other road maps what so ever do create confusions and nothing else.”

In the statement, Geelani has appealed to the nation that ‘no doubt India is a power but our stand has a strength and it is a genuine and just struggle we are striving and it is admitted fact that ultimate victory comes to the forces which adhere to their stand and show determination and steadfastness’.
