Kupwara
A doctor of sub district hospital, Kupwara and his two associates were arrested for allegedly killing a new born baby in Kupwara.
“On 10/10/2012, Kupwara police recovered a body of a new born from a Nallah. After thorough investigation police got to the lady which had given birth to the baby and subsequently concealed the facts. On her questioning she revealed the name of the doctor and other two accused who had carried out the illegal delivery and subsequently murdered the baby before throwing the body into the Nallah”, police informed in a statement.
A case FIR number 362/2012 U/S 318,302 RPC was registered in this regard in police station Kupwara.
Among those arrested are Dr Shan-i- Alam, the gynecologist of sub district hospital, Kupwara and two of his associates Mst Naseema, a part time sweeper in the hospital and Nazir Ahmad Mochi son of Ghulam Ahmad Mochi resident of Muqam Shahwali. All the three accused have been remanded to police custody.
It is pertinent to mention that the gynecologist Dr Shan-i- Alam is also involved in case FIR No.77/2009 under section 312, 315/RPC of police station Tangmarg. The Doctor has been charge sheeted in the case, which is under trial in the court of law, the police added.
