Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani while expressing serious concern over the deteriorating health of Muslim League chief Dr Mohammad Qasim, Wednesday warned authorities of dire consequences if negligence is shown in Qasim’s treatment .

The statement issued to KNS stated that  Syed Ali Geelani expressed his concern over the plight of two Kashmiri youth, Farhat Mehmood and Sheikh Imran, both on their hunger strike in Kolkata jail and in his appeal, urged   International Red cross Committee for their cognizance and asked to fulfill their assigned responsibility in this regard. “ India’s stubborn and obstinate approach is the main cause for loss of precious lives in Jammu and Kashmir ,” said Geelani while  addressing a funeral gathering  of Wasim Yousuf killed in an encounter at Dogripora Pulwama over telephone.

Geelani said that Dr. Mohammad Qasim is suffering in jail since last 21 years and despite recommendations by the review board ,is not  being released .”He is suffering from multiple ailments and his eye sight has considerably damaged. The doctors in their reference recommended for treatment at SMHS Hospital, however the authorities and state police are reluctant and intend to shift him back to jail without providing any specialized treatment.”

Geelani warned authorities of dire consequences in case Dr Mohammad Qasim is shifted back to jail and without providing proper treatment.

The statement  further remarked that Geelani urged to shift two youth, Sheikh Imran and Farhat Mehmood serving life imprisonment in Kolkata jail and said that there is no moral justification for their lodgment in outside state. Urging human rights organizations for their intervention, and asked to take notice of the plight of the two youths and asked to exert their influence on the authorities for shifting them to their native state.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yousuf Mujahid, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Andrabi, Abdul Hamid Magray, Mohammad Sayeed and Shakeel Ahmed today visited Dogri Pora, Awanti Pora and participated in funeral prayers of slain militant Wasim  Yousuf and extended their condolence to bereaved family. The. Funeral prayer  were led by District President Pulwama ,Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Andrabi.

The mourners present protested and chanted slogans  in favor of Islam and ongoing movement. Chairman APHC, Geelani in his telephone address paid glorious tributes to slain militant and said the youth are presenting their precious lives for a noble mission and it is our moral and religious obligation to respect their sacrifices and shall not indulge in activities contrary to their mission.

Reiterating his call for election boycott, Geelani said that India portrays these elections as a tool and evidence to legitimize its forced occupation and since those people who participate in these elections are betraying the mission of martyrs.
