SRINAGAR
The only road link between Valley Kashmir and Jammu, was closed on Thursday after fresh snowfall in Bannihal and Patnitop sectors Srinagar –Jammu highway.
“Fresh snowfall occurred during the night in Bannihal and Patnitop sectors so keeping passengers safety and road conditions in view, the highway has been closed,” official sources said.
They added that snow clearance operations will be started after the snowfall stops in these sectors of the highway.
One and half feet deep snow had accumulated on the road in Bannihal and Patnitop in the morning and the snowfall was going on when the reports last came in.
Rail service between Bannihal and Baramulla was also suspended due to snowfall.
