Castigating the recent statement of Pakistan’s foreign secretary Shehar Yar Khan that India and Pakistan were closer over the resolution of Kashmir, Chairman Huriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Thursday stated that the people of Kashmir have not given the mandate to any one for signing secret pact on Kashmir.

Geelani stated that if Pakistan evolves any settlement of Kashmir with India without taking the aspirations of the people of Kashmir on board, the leadership here will oppose the same with strong resentment.

Geelani while talking to KNS maintained that the former Pakistan’s General Parvez Musharaf floated the four point formula and termed the same as the resolution of Kashmir but the same proved to be a disaster and a move for the division of Kashmir. “I from the very first day was against the four point formula and those leaders who used to praise the same must understand that this formula is aimed at the division of Kashmir at large.”

Geelani stated further that the people of Kashmir have already rejected the four point formula and that it’s  the Present dispensation of Pakistan must understand that the final solution of Kashmir lies in the aspirations of its people . “We consider Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit and Baltistan as one territory and will not allow any establishment to divide our land.”

“We have not issued the mandate to anyone so that they could enter into the secret deal on Kashmir. The people here have rendered immense sacrifices and no one will ever be allowed to sabotage the same,” said Geelani while adding that the leaders who support the implementation of Musharaf’s Formula are undermining the very basic values of Kashmir’s struggle.

He added that despite the leaders giving it the different colour and discuss the same with the name of ‘intellectual’ discourse must not be encouraged.”It creates chaos and the world gets confused that what the people of Kashmir want in actual.”
