Hurriyat (G) on Tuesday ruled out Geelani’s visit to Islamabad on the invitation of Pakistan government. The decision in this regard was taken in the second day of Hurriyat (G) meeting at party’s headquarter in Hyderpora.

“Since, both Pakistan government and people are aware about our situation and sacrifices we laid all these years,” reads Hurriyat (G) statement, “therefore rather than to travel to Pakistan, we understand it is better to keep our struggle for freedom intact.”

The statement further said that though the conglomerate is not against dialogue and concultations, “but we don’t consider it right to attend few days photo shoot session in Pakistan when our people back home are facing constant harassments by government forces.”

In this two day meeting, it was further observed that Pakistan is currently gearing itself for the national assembly elections. “The government there won’t be in a position to take any fruitful decision on our issue,” statement reads further.

Pertinently, Pakistan government has invited both the factions of Hurriyat Conference a few months earlier. Mirwaiz led Hurriyat  Conference has already announced the dates for its Islamabad visit.
