Srinagar:

A day after JKLF Chief Yasin Malik had called for shutdown on coming Friday against the court verdict awarding life imprisonment to two JKLF leaders, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has extended his full support to the shutdown call.

“We extend our complete support to the shutdown call given by JKLF, such judgements are inhuman and need to be counter at all levels,” Geelani said in a statement issued here, “We appeal people to observe complete shutdown to give a befitting reply to the Indian government and their agents (pro-India leaders) who are installed here to help such diktats.”

Chairman Democratic Freedom Party, Shabir Ahmad Shah while extending his support to the call given by JKLF chief said, “Apart from trying to suppress the freedom struggle in the valley by armed and political methods, government of India has now started using the judiciary to suppress the aspirations of the people of the valley.”

“We support the JKLF (shutdown call) because Nazir Ahmad Sheikh and Shawkat Ahmad Khan are the victims of Indian Judicial terrorism,” said Jammu and Kashmir National Front Chief, Nayeem Khan.

Nayeem Khan said that India has activated even its judiciary to crush the Kashmiri people and it is using its traditional Chanakya policy against Kashmiris.

Earlier, accusing government of using new tactics of death penalty and life imprisonment to curb the freedom movement, chairman JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik on Monday urged people to observe complete shut down on December 10, which is marked as World Human Rights day, against the court verdict of life imprisonment to two JKLF leaders, Sheikh Nazir Ahmad and Showkat Ahmad Khan. Besides shutdown, Malik has announced that on the same day he will sit on a day long hunger strike as a mark of protest.
