Regional Passport authorities Saturday said they will facilitate the processing of passport application submitted by senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani and his family if latter have submitted the online application form.
Regional Passport Officer, Firdous Iqbal told KNS that the office will facilitate the processing of the application form submitted by Geelani and his family in case they have submitted the online application. However, he said, Geealni and his family have not attended the office for further processing so far.
As after the online registration, applicant enters into the system after which he or she has to go through the routine procedure including submission of further details, biometric process etc, says Firdous Iqbal, adding that so far Geelani and his family has not approached the office. “Later, the issuance of the passport is done in accordance to the laid down procedure.”
Geelani along with his wife and son Friday submitted online application form for the issuance of the passport in their favour.
Reports informed that both Huriyat (G) chairman and his wife have mentioned that one of their daughters who currently stay in Jeddah is suffering from ill health and that the visit is purely personal and not a political one.
Geelani while applying for the fresh passport has mentioned that he along with his wife would leave for Jeddah as soon as possible so as to inquire about the ailing health of his daughter.
Reports informed that Geelani’s son Syed Naseem also applied for the passport. When asked, Naseem confirmed, saying that his father, mother and he himself has submitted the online passport form so that the family could visit Jeddah at the earliest.
“Rest of the formalities will be completed once the government gives nod to it,” he told KNS.
Huriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar told KNS that Geelani continues to remain under house arrest and that he has applied for the passport purely on personal grounds and not to carry out the political activity of any nature
