Authorities house arrested Hurriyat (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Wednesday morning and did not allow him to visit Tral, in south Kashmir.

This was for the second time that his Tral visit was foiled. Earlier, Geelani had proposed to visit the town on November 29, but was not allowed.

Geelani, during the current week visited Kulgam and addressed a huge public meeting there.

“Today, Geelani came out of his residence at 11:30 am but the large contingent of Police did not allow him to proceed, police had cordoned off his residence during the night,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman, Ayaz Akbar told Kashmir Life.

Geelani was released on October 29, this year after 235 day long house arrest. He was put under house detention just after the hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru, Parliament attack convict on February 9, 2013.

In the month of March, when Geelani returned from New Delhi, he was virtually arrested on the Srinagar airport and detained in his house.

Geelani’s long house detention ended on October 29, this year after which he addressed large public gatherings in Sopore, Shopian, Kupwara, Pulwama and Kulgam in which he appealed people to refrain from voting in the coming Parliament and Assembly elections.

He was later again put under house detention on November, 17 a day ahead of his Palhalan visit. Geelani, has already published his “public campaign” program. He is scheduled to address people in Srinagar on December 8.
