NC leader’s son joins separatist camp

The son of a senior National Conference (NC) leader and a close aide and autobiographer of its founder leader, Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Mohammad Yousuf Taing, Tuesday joined the separatist camp.

“A well known name in the literal circles of the valley and Author, Shahnawaz Taing today joined Jammu Kashmir National Front at a simple function,” a National Front statement said.

National Front is led by senior separatist leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan.

It is for the first time when the son of a unionist leader joined the separatist camp.

The statement further said that Nayeem Ahmad Khan presided over the function in which Shahnawaz Taing was received with warm welcome by the senior National Front workers.

Speaking at the function, Khan elaborated the role of intellectuals and said, “Intellectuals always play a role of eyes and ears of their nation, if this section of the society performs its responsibilities then the nation’s victory is certain but god forbidden intellectuals of any nation go after the worldly benefits only and forget their responsibilities nobody on earth can save that nation from the sure disaster.”

Khan also expressed his anguish over the unfortunate incident happened in the central jail Srinagar. “The incident has shacked the conscience of every living soul so the culprits should be dealt with iron fist.”

Khan however, further said, “People who are at the helm of affairs have already sold their conscience to New Delhi so there is not any hope of doing justice with them despite the fact the government run women’s commission of the state has already confirmed the incident.”
