Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra, Northern Army Commander arrived at Srinagar on a two day visit to the forward areas of the Chinar Corps for deliberations on security situation and interaction with military and civil authorities on Friday.

The General called on the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and discussed the prevailing security situation and the measures being undertaken by army towards sustained peace in the Valley.

On his arrival, Army Commander was received by Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, Chinar Corps Commander and was briefed on the current operational situation on Line of Control (LoC) and internal security environment prevailing in the hinterland.

During his two days visit, the army Commander would also be visiting the LC formations and troops deployed in the forward areas, and interacted with the officers and troops. He is also scheduled to call on NN Vohra, the Governor of J&K.
