Reacting to news from certain media outlets that Government of Pakistan is preparing for granting provisional status to  Gilgit,  Baltistan,  and Pakistan adminsitered Kashmir, Islamic Students League (ISL) patron Shakeel Ahmed Bakshi Thursday said that if these reports “have even an iota of truth in them then it is highly unfortunate for our sacred freedom movement, that the hands which were supposed to help and support this movement are hell bent to raise to ground the very bases of freedom movement”.

“This kind of unfortunate decision on one hand amounts to weaken the key resolutions on Kashmir which concerns whole of Jammu & Kashmir as existed in August 1947 and when we take Gilgit, Baltistan out of that earstwhile state before refrendum it amounts to criminal conspiracy against the freedom struggle,” the statement quoting Bakhshi said. “It was this gut feeling that despite all preprations made by then Pakistan Government prevented Zulfiqar Ali Bhutoo when he was foriegn minister during 60s from declaring Gilgit-Baltistan as a province of Pakistan,” he added.

Bakshi cautioned freedom loving people of Jammu and Kashmir about such designs “against the freedom movement which signals about something fishy has been cooking behind the curtians”. “We should remain cautious and vigilant as in past to foil such designs and oppose the division of Jammu and Kashmir tooth and nail,” he said.
