Dead body of one missing girl namely Rifat Bano daughter of Bashir Ahmad Khan resident of Gujar Patti Sangri Colony Baramulla has been recovered from Mohra village of Uri on the instance of her fiancé namely Sajad Ahmad Bhatti son of  Siraj din Bhatti resident of Mohra, Uri, police said.

The police in a statement said that the girl was missing since May 10, 2018, and family had lodged missing/abduction report on May 11, 2018, in Police Station Baramulla.

Case FIR No 79/2108 U/S 366,109 RPC was registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation was taken up, Police added.

The spokesman said that in the course of an investigation the fiancé of the missing girl emerged to be the prime suspect who was apprehended and during questioning confessed the murder and led the police team to Mohra, Uri and upon his instance, the dead body of the missing girl was recovered.

“The girl had reportedly gone to meet her fiancé (accused ) with whom she was formally engaged. Nikah ceremony had already taken place and #wedding dates were being finalized by the families,” said police.

“Initial investigation suggests that motive behind the murder was Love triangle as the accused was allegedly having affair with some other lady which is being further probed,” the police spokesman said.

The spokesman added that the post-mortem of the dead body is being done and the charges of murder U/S 302 RPC have been added to already registered FIR
