SRINAGAR: Close confidante of former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, former minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, who filed nomination papers as candidate of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) at Kathua for the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency has shown immovable assets worth Rs 44.46 lakhs on his name and Rs 28.27 lakh including 50 Tola gold on the name of his wife.

Besides this, he acquired land worth Rs 49 lakhs and Rs 1.35 crore in Kishtwar area and his wife land worth Rs 84 lakhs.He also possesses shops and a house at Kishtwar valuing 5.19 crores.

He has shown inherited assets worth Rs 49.05 lakhs and self acquired valued at Rs 4.70 crores. Ghulam Mohammad Saroori remained a four-time MLA from Inderwal constituency of Kishtwar district from 2002 to 2018.

In 2008, he was appointed as the minister of state for tourism, forest, school education, social welfare and consumer affairs and public distribution.

Currently, the vice president of DPAP, Saroori also remained associated with the Congress for a long time but quit the party along with Ghulam Nabi Azad in August 2022.
